Claudelands set to execute game plan

Claudelands Rovers are set for a threatening challenge this weekend, as the WaiBOP outfit are set to take on top of the table, Glenfield Rovers in their round 11 match of the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier Division.

Although complete underdogs, as Claudelands sit at the opposite end of the table from their opponents this weekend, the team in red is planning to execute a game plan, which will hopefully earn them some much needed points to ensure better chances of survival.

“We try and keep the same game plan every week and it’s about trying utilize that we have an execute our game plan” Claudelands coach, Adam Pegler said.

“Unfortunately, we’ve struggled to put together a strong performance when we do execute our plan, but we’re not too far away from getting points against the teams that are above us and it’s not impossible, so that’s definitely what we’re aiming for.”

“But against Glenfield who are top of the table, we know it’s going to be a tough match, but for us, we just treat every team the same, it’s going to be hard, and hopefully execute our game plan.”

Despite being at the bottom of the table, Claudelands have some handy and dangerous players at their disposal, with skipper Tiana Hill proving to be an influential part of the Claudelands midfield.

“Tiana has been a stand out this season, she’s a young player and she’s got a calm head on her shoulders, she’s our captain, a natural leader and she definitely has the ability to lift the team when needed.”

Also impressing through her goal scoring credentials and fast paced wheels on the pitch, is nineteen-year-old forward, Summer Gunn.

Gunn has played in every game for Claudelands so far this season and has found the back of the net on three separate occasions, with her most important goal being scored against Papakura in a 1-1 stalemate.

“Summer Gunn is a new player, for us this year, she’s been working through the ranks of club football and she does the job up top for us and obviously with her pace, she can create a load of opportunities for us.”

The match will kick off at 12:45pm at McFetridge Park on Sunday.
