Franklin United: New Day, New Game

Game by game is what floods the mind of Franklin United’s coach, Geoff Cooper, who’s side is coming off the back of an astonishing 8-1 win over Cambridge two weeks ago.

With each match a challenge in the Lotto NRFL Men’s Division Two, the Franklin gaffer is certainly looking ahead to his side’s fixture against Te Atatu this weekend and is taking every precaution necessary.

“We need to take it how it is, and go in with the attitude of, this is a new day and a new game, and we just need to get on with it.”

“They will be a big threat, they’re very good going forward and they could be a danger to anybody, so we’re not going to take this match, or anyone for granted at all.”

“We never presume anything, every game is a new game, we do take every game as it comes, and we don’t take anything for granted.”

“It’s how you turn up and prepare for the day and that’s what gets you through to the end.”

Franklin currently sit third on the table with 24 goals so far this season.

Behind some of those goals is forward, Kartik Kumar, who’s scored five goals in seven appearances for Franklin this season.

“He’s got the youth, he’s only 18, he has that pace, he’s got that x-factor that can produce something special in a match that will win you a game, that’s what makes him exciting” Cooper said.

“We actually pull him to the side and tell him what we want him to do and what expect from him in the game.”

“We give the boys expectations and we let them give us what they expect from each game.”

The match will kick off at 3pm at Te Atatu Peninsula Park.
