Here are the results from today’s round of fixtures in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier Division….

Coming off a poor run of results with four losses in their last last five matches, Papakura City were seeking a turnaround in results when they welcomed Western Springs to McLennan Park earlier today.

However, Western Springs started brightly, creating a number of chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The match was fairly even, with chances at both ends, but it wasn’t till the 39th minute, when the speedy Brittany Cunningham-Lee was put through on goal and slotted the ball past first half Springs keeper, Mariah Ruckdeschel putting Papakura City up by 1-0.

The second half saw the introduction of former NZ age group international goal keeper, Lily Alfeld who stood between the sticks Western Springs in the second half, however, it wasn’t to be her day, as Cunningham-Lee, with brute force, made her way towards the goal, wriggling past 3-4 Western Springs defenders and prodding the ball past Alfeld to make it 2-0.

After a strong afternoon for Papakura,  Hannah Kraakman, rounded off a pleasant day, when her 84th minute strike was blasted past Lily Alfeld to make it 3-0.
