In today’s round of fixtures in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League, Papakura City welcomed Claudelands Rovers to McLennan Park.

The home side were looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 loss to Three Kings United midweek and took an early lead over Claudelands, when Dayna Manak squared the ball to Britney Cunningham-Lee who slotted it home to make it 1-0.

Five minutes later, Claudelands forward, Summer Gunn was released on a forward charge and her final effort on goal was a tough one for Meripa Seumanutafa to keep out.

Neither team could find the winner and the match finished 1-1.

Coaches comments:

Liam Martin – Papakura Coach:

“It was just a game of tired legs for both teams. We started pretty well, took our chances earlier, but mentally the last couple of weeks are just being really draining, so many games back to back. The effort was there but mentally and physically I think we struggled”.

Adam Pegler – Claudelands Coach:

“We were trying to go for the win, and at the end of the day I thought we had the best of the chances, but we haven’t been able to capitalize on them. So, we are happy with the point at the end of it”.
