With Birkenhead United occupying a favourable position in being crowned champions of the Lotto NRFL Men’s Premier Division, the odds are still stake for eight teams to snatch away the league title for the 2018 NRFL season.

This weekend the league leaders will take on already relegated, Bay Olympic, in what could prove to be a very interesting contest. While Birkenhead will be searching for a crucial three points on the weekend, Bay Olympic will be looking to make a clear statement and put up a Premier Division performance, after officially facing the drop last week.

Heading across to Centre Park, where Manukau United will be eager to pick up points against bottom of the table, Three Kings United. The Kevin Fallon coached side are seeking a bid to win the league title in the clubs first season in the NRFL Men’s Premier Division. After an unfavourable 1-1 draw with Onehunga Sports on Wednesday, a win will assure them a spot in the right direction at the end of this weekend’s round of fixtures.

After falling to league leaders Birkenhead United last weekend, Hamilton Wanderers will be searching for a bounce-back against Waitakere City in-order to keep their title hopes alive. Waitakere on the other hand have had their title hopes abolished after being eight points behind league leaders Birkenhead with only two games to spare. The West Auckland outfit have their own ambitions for a finish inside the top five of the league, considering everything goes their way.

With a mathematical chance of winning the league this season, Eastern Suburbs will do everything they can to assure they end up on top when they take on Central United at Madills Farm on Saturday. However, now safe from relegation, Central will seek a rebuild and a finish into the five will be a nice finish to a struggling season for the team in yellow.

Glenfield Rovers welcome a high energy Western Springs side to McFetridge Park on Saturday. With the title hopes all but dashed for the team in Yellow, the Carl Jorgensen coached side are seeking to climb further up the table, despite only having two matches left in the season. Their opponents, Springs, sit only one point behind and will be issuing a finish within the top three by the end of the season. The encounter between these two sides will no doubt shed light on either team, forecasting their destiny coming up to the end of the NRFL season.

Lastly, East Coast Bays take on title contenders, Onehunga Sports at Bay City Park. Sports are desperate for a win this weekend, to ensure their hopes of winning the NRFL Men’s Premier league title back-to-back are still alive. However, after Tuesday’s disappointing defeat to Birko, ECB are issuing a plan of attack and will do everything they can issue a bounce-back on Saturday.
