NSU Appoint Malcolm McPherson as 2019 Head Coach

The Board of North Shore United Association Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Malcolm McPherson as the Head Coach of the men’s first team and Director of Football.

The club’s appointment comes after a successful 2018 season gaining promotion to the NRFL Premier League. McPherson has coached at both National League and NRFL Premier League levels, having won the League and Chatham Cup double.

“The opportunity to coach North Shore United in the top winter league was too good to turn down. It’s an exciting project and the club has genuine ambitions to be successful at this level.” McPherson says.

Malcolm lives locally and returns to the club where his coaching career began almost 15 years ago.

Club Chair, Darryl Petherick says, “after success in 2018, and with Paul Harkness returning to the UK, we sort a replacement Head Coach who has the pedigree to achieve at the Premier grade level but also the credentials to lead a coaching team that will continue to provide first class player development pathways for boys and girls of all ages.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made with player development over the last five years, including having both boys and girls go on to NZ representative age group honours. With these and the first team’s success in 2018 we are excited and looking forward to the 2019 season at all levels of the club.”
