After a disappointing end to their four-match winning streak last weekend, Onehunga Sports are eyeing a comeback win against East Coast Bays in their next Lotto NRFL Men’s Premier League fixture.

However, with opponents Bays losing their last two matches against Birkenhead and Waitakere City, the North Shore outfit will be riding the same boat in the hopes of seeking a revival to their season.

“They’re a really organized team, they play some nice football as well, but they’ve lost the last two games, so they will have the motivation to win the three points against us” Onehunga Sports Assistant coach, Rudy Mozr said.

“They have a mix of experienced players and young players, and their coach [David Mulligan] is doing a good job there, but we’ve analyzed ECB as well, we had a chat with the boys on what to expect from the game and at the end of the day, if we play our own game we will hopefully come away with the three points.”

Going into round ten of the competition, Onehunga lead the chase, currently sitting top of the league table.

With the majority of the squad returning from last year’s championship winning side, Onehunga aim to go back-to-back title winners after an impressive first half of the season.

“We are all really keen to go back to back, we know how hard it is, it usually doesn’t happen when a team wins the league back to back” Mozr said.

“With no changes to last year’s league winning side and with the boys being together for a couple of years, we make it our goal is to win the league and the cup and to go as far as possible.”

With Onehunga finding their feet during a four match winning streak, forward Sean Lovemore is at the forefront of club’s success scoring seven goals, in nine matches.

Onehunga’s Sean Lovemore has scored Seven goals this season.

Lovemore currently leads the golden boot race, tied equally with Manukau United’s Sanni Issa and Eastern Suburb’s Matt Palmer, who are also on seven goals.

The match will kick off at 3pm at Waikaraka Park.
