PREVIEW | Lotto NRFL Women’s RD 7

Eastern Suburbs ended Three Kings United’s 29-match Lotto NRFL winning streak last weekend to take top spot, and this weekend sees them face another stern test against third place Glenfield Rovers.

Aimee Phillips and Jacqui Hand each got on the score sheet to help Mauro Donoso’s side down Kings 2-0 and Phillips was understandably proud of her team’s performance.

“It was an overwhelming feeling,” Phillips said.

“Obviously one that is incredibly satisfying; full of pride.

“However, you always have in mind that you want to be humble winners on the day and although you have the feeling to not be over the top about it, I felt very proud of the team.”

The Football Ferns attacker is unavailable this weekend due to the Ferns Development Squad taking on Eastern Suburbs at the same time but Phillips is certain the young Suburbs side can step up again this weekend in what will be another tough match.

“I am sure the girls will give it their all.

“I have all the confidence that the girls coming through will take their chance and step up this week against Glenfield. They will have too.

“It will definitely be a good game,” Phillips adds.

Glenfield, meanwhile, will be without first choice shot stopper Kaitlyn Savage who has recently stepped down from the game. Alice Noyer will see out the remainder of the season between the sticks for Andrew Clay’s side.

Another top four clash is on this Sunday with Three Kings United hosting Claudelands Rovers. Kings will be out for revenge after last weekend’s loss while a win for the visitors could potentially see them jump into third depending on Glenfield’s result.

Western Springs will be hopeful of grabbing their third win of the season when they travel to Morningside Park to face Northland. The newcomers to the league are yet to get a point on the board.

Rounding on the Women’s Premier Division action, an intriguing match between Norwest United and Forrest Hill Milford is taking place at Huapai Reserve.

Hamilton Wanderers have the round seven bye.
