Reddy nets first premier goal

Versatile Hannah Reddy has a bright future in football according to Forrest Hill Milford head coach Ben Bate.

The Forrest Hill youngster opened her goal-scoring account in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premier League last Friday evening as she scored one of the goals in Forrest Hill’s 4-0 win over Western Springs.

Bate has shown faith in Reddy eight times this season in the absence of the likes of Sam Tawharu – a member of the Football Ferns Development Programme – and the 15-year old has repaid that confidence every time with her performances.

“Hannah has played a part in eight games so far this season and although Friday saw her score her first senior goal, she has been threatening it ever since her first game against Claudelands back in April,” Bate said.

“Even when asked to play out of position, she has performed well in every game; she is a unique player with technical skill far beyond her years.”

The Northern Football age-group representative was extremely happy to have opened her account in what was a crucial victory.

“[It was] pretty awesome,” Reddy said on netting her first goal.

“I had hoped to score my first premier goal this season, so to have achieved that whilst helping the team get a win is a really great feeling.

Reddy is one of a number of youngsters in Bate’s side – Casey Klyn being another who also opened her account in the same match – and is reaping the benefits of training and playing alongside more experienced players.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have the opportunity to play in the Women’s Premier League at my age, and aside from it being heaps of fun, It has been a great learning experience for me too.

“Being able to play with and against players that are very talented has taught me and continues to teach me so much about the game and I am really grateful for that.”

With five league games left and a cup run Reddy hopes to be involved as much as possible as she looks to cement her place in the premier side for 2018.

“I’d like to be given the opportunity to help out our women’s premier team as much as possible for the rest of the season as well as achieving success with the reserves.

“Next season I am aiming to make it into the main women’s premier squad.”
