Three wins, two draws and seven losses see relegation beckoning on the backs of Te Atatu as we move into the second round of fixtures in the Lotto NRFL Men’s Division Two.

Pressure is beginning to melt on Te Atatu coach, Daniel Eisenhut after last weekend’s disappointing 4-3 defeat to relegation rivals, Ngongotaha.

“We’re in a relegation battle and we know that” Eisenhut said.

“In every game remaining in the season, we need at least one point at the minimum to help us stay off the bottom two.”

“Ngongotaha turned up wanting to play and to fight to get out of that relegation battle and that’s when it showed that we didn’t have the right attitude in the game and it costed us big time.”

This weekend, Te Atatu will have a chance to turn their season around when they travel to Galloway Park to take on Claudelands Rovers in Round 14 of the competition.

Last time out, the match ended in a one-sided affair, after Claudelands thumped the West Auckland outfit by a resounding 8-0 scoreline.

“We’re looking to go down to Galloway Park and essentially put up a fight and battle for the points” Eisenhut said.

“It was tough taking that on board last time out, it was a competitive game, then it turned one sided when two of our players were dismissed and that took a toll on us as we collapsed at the back.”

“This time around, our guys have learnt a lot, they’ve gained a lot of experience throughout the year and we’re hoping to go down there and battle to ensure we come home with a result.”

Three weeks ago, Te Atatu’s 2-2 draw with Northland FC saw goal keeper, Eddie Trubshoe hit a remarkable milestone, appearing in 100 games for the club.

“Eddie [Trubshoe] has that bit of experience at the back there, he’s done a lot of things with his football career, he gives a little bit of confidence to the players in front of him, he brings that team culture and that want to fight for it” Eisenhut said.

“That want to win attitude is brought out during our matches and into the team, it impacts the players and he’s a great player to have among our stocks.”

The match against Claudelands Rovers will kick off at 3pm at Galloway Park.
